BlackLuxe Ride provides private black car service to and from William P. Hobby Airport, 24 hours a day. We cover arrivals and departures at HOU for Houston residents, business travellers, and visitors staying anywhere in the metro.
Hobby sits roughly eleven miles southeast of downtown, which makes it the closer and faster airport for a large part of Houston. If you are staying in the Medical Center, downtown, EaDo, Pearland, Clear Lake or Sugar Land, Hobby will usually save you time over driving north to Intercontinental. It is also the airport most Southwest passengers use.
How long the drive from Hobby actually takes. These are our own running times to and from Hobby, measured without traffic. Houston rush hour, roughly 7 to 10 in the morning and 4 to 7 in the afternoon, adds to every one of them, which is why we set your pickup from your flight time rather than from a rule of thumb.
Hobby to Pearland: 20 to 25 minutes
Hobby to Downtown: 25 to 30 minutes
Hobby to the Texas Medical Center: 25 to 30 minutes
Hobby to the Galleria and Uptown: 30 to 35 minutes
Hobby to Clear Lake: 30 to 35 minutes
Hobby to Sugar Land: 45 to 50 minutes
Compare those with the drive north to Intercontinental from the same neighbourhoods and the case for Hobby makes itself for most of southeast Houston.
Where we meet you at Hobby. Follow the signs for Ground Transportation and your driver will be waiting inside, in baggage claim on the Arrivals Level, holding a name board. You are not hunting for a car at a crowded curb and you are not walking to a remote lot.
Every chauffeur picking up at a Houston airport has to be badged, and ours are. Airport rules also prohibit drivers from soliciting fares, so if a stranger offers you a ride inside the terminal or at the curb, that is not a legitimate operator. Only travel with the driver named on your reservation.
For departures we collect you at your door and drop at the terminal entrance closest to your airline. Tell us your carrier when you book.
Hobby is smaller, and that cuts both ways. Arrivals move fast here. Baggage claim sits close to the gates and the walk from aircraft to car is short, so the gap between wheels down and pulling away is smaller than at Intercontinental. Departures are where people get caught out. Because Hobby feels easy, travellers leave home later than they should, and the security queue does not care how small the airport is. Early Southwest departures in particular push a lot of passengers through at once.
Not sure which Houston airport you should be using? We wrote a full comparison of Hobby and Intercontinental covering airlines, terminals and drive times. It is worth two minutes before you book the flight rather than after.
What is included on every Hobby transfer. Real-time flight tracking, so a delay changes our timing and not your booking. Meet and greet in baggage claim. Up to 60 minutes of complimentary wait after landing. A full-size executive SUV with climate control and help with the luggage. Car seat storage on request. Available 24 hours a day including holidays, early mornings and late nights. Three hours is our minimum booking notice, and we take same-day requests whenever we can cover them.
Questions we get about Hobby pickups
Where exactly will my driver be at Hobby? Inside, in baggage claim on the Arrivals Level, holding a name board. Follow the signs for Ground Transportation once you have your bags. You do not need to call first, though your driver's number is in your confirmation email.
What happens if my flight is delayed? Nothing on your side. We track the flight in real time and move the pickup automatically, and you have up to 60 minutes of complimentary wait after landing.
Someone offered me a ride at the terminal. Should I take it? No. Airport rules prohibit drivers from soliciting fares, and every legitimate chauffeur at Hobby is badged and pre-booked. Only travel with the driver named on your reservation.
Do you serve Hobby as well as Intercontinental? Yes, both, 24 hours a day. Many of our clients fly out of one airport and back into the other, and we handle that as a single booking.
How early should I book a car to Hobby? Three hours is our minimum. For a 6 a.m. Southwest departure, book the night before and we will set the pickup from your gate time rather than a guess.
